We acknowledge our responsibilities of ensuring our makers are working in safe and fair conditions, so it was of upmost importance that we chose a manufacturing partner that had undergone appropriate auditing. It is with pride that our factory in Northern India has been SMETA (Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit) Certified.
We are proud to adopt elements of traditional Indian craft across our entire collection. These techniques include embroidery, handbeading, crocheting and metalsmithing — the process is slow and thorough. The handcrafted nature means that each handbag has unique characteristics and will differ slightly in appearance. It is our hope that Raela products contribute to the preservation of skills that have been passed down through generations.
To honour the motherland of our founders and product alike, we will be contributing $5 to each of our two charity partners, Thandi House (South Africa) and Kasturi & Mehfuza Charitable Trust (India) for every bag sold. We believe that a product is so much more beautiful when its value extends beyond the gratification of its owner, and offers enlightenment to others
